Gallerija House - Guest house (bed no breakfast) accommodation in the historic heart of Victoria, Gozo.
FAQs and Extra Information
How do we find our way to you?
You can find a map here: GOZO MAP
From the airport: You will need to travel to Cirkewwa to take the ferry across to the Island of Gozo. You can do this with bus
X1 (approx. 1 hour 15 minutes and 2 euro per person) or we can arrange for a taxi to meet your flight (approx. 45 minutes and 40 euro). The ferry to Gozo takes 25 minutes, and is free on the way out, but charge there is a 4.65 euro per person when you return to Malta (cars have an extra charge). The ferry runs regularly day and night. The full timetable is here: GOZO CHANNEL
From the Mgarr ferry port in Gozo: To reach us once you have arrived in Gozo you can take bus 301 or 323 bus from the ferry terminal to Victoria bus station (20 minutes / 2 euro per person / or 21 euro for a useful week long bus pass). Gallerija House is then a five minute walk away. We will send you more detailed walking directions when we confirm your booking. Alternatively, you can take a white taxi from taxi rank at the ferry terminal which is a fixed fare of 12.60 to Victoria, or ask for one to meet you on arrival for 15 euro. Ask to be taken to Savina Square as we are just a one minute walk from here (we are in the narrow streets where there is no through access to cars).
If you would like a taxi to meet you at the airport to take you to Cirkewwa, and another to meet you on arrival in Gozo to bring you to the guesthouse, we can pre-book this service for you for 55 euro.
Are there owners or staff living in the house?
Do you provide breakfast?
No - but with 18 cafes with reasonable prices within 3 minute walk of the house, serving food from 6.30am until 21.45pm - you certainly won't go hungry! You'll find lots of information and suggestions about where to eat for a variety of budgets and diets in an information pack in your room when you check in.
What time is check in / check out?
Rooms are ready for check in from 13.00. We do not accept check ins after 21.30pm at night (so you flight needs to land
before 19.00pm) We will contact you a few days before your stay to check your travel plans and to estimate your arrival
time so we can make sure someone is at the house to meet you.
Check out is by 10.30am (although you're welcome to leave your bags for collection later in the day if you haven't finished exploring).
Please note that due to the distance and the ferry timetable you need to allow approximately 2.5 - 3 hours from the guesthouse to the airport by taxi and 3.5 hours by public transport . Please check your flight times and consider booking a night on the main island if you are due to arrive in Malta after 19.00pm, or if your flight departure is before 9am and you don't like early mornings!
What is the area like?
We're situated in the old town of Victoria (or Ir-Rabat as the locals call it) - a residential area of narrow atmospheric streets at the foot of the Citadel. The architecture of the area is quiant and you'll find plenty of niches and statues and photo opportunities. Its very safe and friendly with local people rising early to go to church, shop for groceries or socialise at the cafes in the piazzas. Its real life, not a resort, so although the area is closed to cars, you will get a little noise from the street and will hear the daily ringing of the church bells for each mass.
Is there parking?
The backstreets of Victoria are mostly closed to cars and parking restrictions apply to many central areas. If you are driving to us by car or scooter please let us know and we will provide information on suggested parking places.
Is there air conditioning?
No. But we provide a standing electric fan in each bedroom at hot times of year, and the traditional design of the house makes it a little cooler than modern buildings.
Can you help us with activities and ideas of things to do?
In your room you'll find an information pack which covers ideas for site seeing as well as suggestions of places to eat, a basic map, and a bus timetable. Downstairs you'll find a range of walking route guides (in English, French, German and Italian) which could keep you busy for over a week! We're also happy to chat to you to tell you more about good beaches and swimming / snorkelling spots, and to help you book tours such as kayaking, biking, climbing, segway and wine tasting.
Are you a licenced or officially registered business?
